Meet Jack, a 12 year old from London Ontario who loves superheroes. All his life, Jack enjoyed dressing in costume (cosplay) and attending comic con events. In 2019 that stopped when Jack was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anaemia. A year later he was also diagnosed with Paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria.
This serious condition affects the body’s ability to make healthy blood which means his bone marrow is empty.
So far Jack has received 132 units of blood and platelets. He has become an advocate for Canadian Blood Services. The #suitupforjack campaign was created to encourage blood donation to help others. Thats what superheroes do!

At his sickest he would get as many as 2 units of blood and 1 unit of platelets twice a week. Each bag is 2 hours long. In October 2019 he was admitted to children’s for 10 days for ATG treatment and had blood and platelets every day. That’s why he is so supportive of Canada Blood Services. Jack has had 132 units of blood and platelets. We wants people to know what heroes Blood Services and blood donors are are to people like him in need of blood.
How to participate in #SUITUPFORJACK
The goal is to promote blood donation so wear any cosplay or superhero costume, T-shirt, hat or anything related to cosplay and donate.
Have your picture taken during donation while holding a sign with the hashtag #suitupforjack clearly visible. Post that photo on social media and make sure to include the #suitupforjack hashtag in your post so its gets seen by others. Tag your friends to encourage them to join. You can even tag Jack in your post. @superherokidjackmc
